“Sky Debuts Affordable Smart Home Plans in UK”

Share

Sky has introduced two new smart home plans in the UK, providing competition to popular home security devices like Ring doorbells and Google’s Nest system. These plans include internet-connected cameras with full cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month, a pricing strategy that Sky claims could save consumers over £100 compared to purchasing a Ring system from Amazon.

The first option offers a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month, along with a £15 upfront fee. This package includes features such as full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customisable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.

For those seeking additional security, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and extra app functionalities like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.

Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, highlighted the goal of making top-quality smart technology more accessible to customers. He emphasized that Sky Smart Home aims to offer user-friendly, affordable solutions for staying connected to home effortlessly.

Sky’s new plans mark a shift in the availability of their home security devices, moving away from solely bundling cameras and alarms into Protect Smart Home Insurance. With these standalone services, customers can now purchase Sky Smart Home products independently.

In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, discounted by £20. Customers interested in cloud recording services would also need a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month.
