In the serene countryside of Pembrokeshire, a peculiar sight resembling an alien spacecraft may catch your eye. However, fear not, as it is not an extraterrestrial invasion but rather a unique accommodation option offered by an unconventional Airbnb site.
Nestled along a secluded country lane near the Welsh village of Templeton lies the Melin Mabes glamping destination. This distinctive site presents three distinct lodging choices: a traditional caravan, a whimsical treehouse, and the most peculiar of all, the Spodnic UFO. Previously showcased on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, this space-themed accommodation is housed within a petite fiberglass structure acquired by the owners from an online auction platform.
Originally built for London’s 2012 Olympics to house generators, the ‘UFO’ underwent a remarkable transformation by its owners to create a one-of-a-kind retreat. Visitors can now reserve their stay at this unique spot through Airbnb or the Melin Mabes website.
Inside the pod, guests are greeted by silver walls adorned with sci-fi memorabilia and playful elements. The interior features a double bed, bunk beds for up to four occupants, and even an inflatable alien companion.
At the heart of the pod is a ladder leading to a platform with a glass dome, offering a perfect vantage point for stargazing or enjoying panoramic views of the Welsh countryside. Outside, a covered kitchen area equipped with essential amenities such as a fridge, cooker, and running water, along with a cozy dining space, awaits guests.
A highlight of the accommodation is the bathroom, cleverly designed within a replica TARDIS box, complete with a private shower, toilet, and sink, ensuring a comfortable and private experience.
Adjacent to the Spodnic UFO, guests can indulge in a private hot tub and outdoor shower. The enclosed outdoor space allows furry companions to roam freely, adding to the unique stay experience.
This extraordinary Airbnb site is conveniently located just a short distance from the village, where a warm pub and charming cottages await. Nearby attractions include the Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo, offering a range of family-friendly activities and accommodations with complimentary attraction access for guests.
A brief 15-minute drive leads to Saundersfoot Beach, a picturesque Blue Flag beach known for its expansive sandy shoreline and shallow waters, ideal for family outings. The beach features a bustling harbor and a historic lighthouse, complemented by local eateries serving freshly caught seafood.
