Several major airlines, including Wizz Air, TUI, British Airways, and Emirates, have issued updates regarding any disruptions to their flights or holiday services due to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
Recent weeks have seen a significant amount of travel disturbances, with many flights departing from the UK to Middle Eastern destinations being canceled following the US-Israeli military actions in Iran. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has also advised against non-essential travel to the United Arab Emirates, a measure that remains in effect as of March 25.
Airlines have been keeping customers informed about any flight adjustments, with many operating on a reduced flight schedule until further notice. Below are the most recent updates from Wizz Air, TUI, British Airways, and Emirates…
Wizz Air has been significantly impacted by the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, leading to the suspension of some of its flights.
In a statement released on March 25, the airline stated: “Due to the recent security escalation in Iran and the broader Middle Eastern region, Wizz Air has halted all flights to and from Israel until April 13. Flights from/to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Amman from European mainland destinations have also been suspended until mid-September.
“While flights between London Gatwick and Jeddah are operational, flights to/from Medina are currently on hold but are expected to resume from March 28.
“This temporary suspension allows the airline to redirect capacity to popular European summer destinations, offering customers a wider selection of routes during peak travel times. Wizz Air is dedicated to providing enhanced flexibility and exciting travel opportunities across its European network with increased capacity and more summer destinations.
“Further announcements on new summer routes and increased frequencies to popular destinations can be expected soon, providing customers with more travel options.
“The airline is closely monitoring the situation and maintaining communication with local and international authorities, aviation safety agencies, security entities, and relevant government bodies. Operational decisions will be continually assessed, and the flight schedule may be adjusted as circumstances evolve.
“Ensuring the safety and security of passengers, crew, and aircraft remains Wizz Air’s top priority. The airline recognizes the inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the understanding of its customers. Passengers with affected bookings have been contacted directly with details on their alternatives.”
TUI faced significant cancellations following the conflicts and continues to monitor the situation in the Middle East. In their latest update, they provided guidance for customers scheduled to travel to the UAE or Qatar.
In their travel alerts on their website, TUI mentioned: “Due to airspace restrictions in certain regions, flights to and from the UK have been affected, resulting in delays or cancellations.
