The UK is bracing for the arrival of Storm Dave this weekend, prompting the Met Office to issue two Amber weather warnings for high winds. The storm, with gusts of up to 90mph, is expected to hit areas including Northern Ireland, north Wales, Cumbria, and Northumberland. “Danger to life” alerts have been issued and will remain in effect until Sunday morning, along with additional Yellow weather warnings.

To witness Storm Dave’s impact firsthand, viewers can tune in to various live webcams capturing the storm’s effects from locations such as Blackpool, Dublin, Lake Windermere, and the Yorkshire Dales. Travelers planning to move around during the Easter weekend have been cautioned about potential disruptions on roads, as well as rail, air, and ferry services.

According to Met Office meteorologist Greg Dewhurst, cold air currently over Scotland will lead to snowfall as rain moves in. He predicts heavy snow accumulation in the Highlands, with up to 20-30 centimeters in higher areas and 5-10 centimeters in lower regions. Following Easter Monday, temperatures are expected to rise as warmer air from Europe moves in.

Dewhurst anticipates a significant temperature increase post-Easter, with highs reaching the low 20s in England and Wales by mid-week. The sunniest skies are expected in southeast England, with temperatures possibly reaching 23-24 degrees Celsius. The Met Office has issued multiple yellow and amber wind warnings covering mainland Scotland, Northern Ireland, parts of northern England, and North Wales, with dangerous conditions expected along the coastline.

Storm Dave is projected to peak on Saturday evening before weakening as it heads towards the North Sea on Sunday. First Minister of Scotland, John Swinney, advised the public to heed weather warnings and exercise caution during the storm.

Travel disruptions are expected during this busy Easter period, with the RAC predicting increased road traffic and Abta estimating two million UK residents traveling abroad. Motorists in Scotland are advised to check routes and plan ahead due to the adverse weather conditions. Authorities have urged HGV and bus drivers to be cautious, especially in areas prone to high winds and heavy rain.

Transport Scotland emphasized the need for preparedness and urged travelers to stay informed about changing weather conditions. In light of Storm Dave’s impact, authorities are working to mitigate disruptions and ensure public safety.
