An individual working at an Amazon facility in Oregon was reportedly found deceased and remained unattended for over an hour as coworkers were urged to continue their tasks, according to a recent disclosure. Employees were allegedly directed to ignore the situation, with some purportedly discouraged from offering assistance to the incapacitated person.

The incident, which occurred on April 6 at the Troutdale distribution center, was detailed in a report by The Western Edge. The report claimed that Amazon attempted to suppress information about the worker’s demise. Witnesses shared accounts of a distressing scene at the workplace, where efforts to aid the fallen individual were reportedly hindered.

Emergency services eventually intervened, closing off the area for investigation. The response to the incident has provoked dismay among workers, with criticism aimed at the management’s handling of the situation. Concerns were raised about the treatment of employees in large retail corporations, including previous allegations against Amazon in the United States.

In a statement to the Mirror US, Amazon expressed condolences for the loss and extended support to the deceased worker’s family. Grief counseling and additional assistance were offered to employees at the facility. Site operations were temporarily halted following the incident, which was determined to be unrelated to work.

The occurrence coincided with protests by Amazon workers under the #MakeAmazonPay campaign, highlighting issues such as labor practices and environmental impact. Allegations of the company considering employees as expendable have fueled discontent among workers, both in the US and globally.
