Season 2 of the popular hockey drama series Heated Rivalry on Crave will feature two new cast members.
Canadian actor Daniel Diemer, recognized for his role as Tyson in the TV series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, has been cast as hockey player Ryan Price in the upcoming season.
Welsh actor Shaheen Jafargholi will portray musician Fabian Salah, who is set to appear in the HBO show War.
Ryan and Fabian are the central characters in the third book of Rachel Reid’s acclaimed Game Changers hockey romance series titled Tough Guy.
The storyline follows Ryan, a professional hockey enforcer, who moves to the Toronto team and encounters Fabian, an aspiring musician from his past. Despite past history, their chemistry reignites, leading to a potential romantic future that may require Ryan to make a life-altering decision regarding his hockey career.
Writer Jacob Tierney and producer Brendan Brady expressed their excitement about the new cast members, stating that Daniel and Shaheen embody the complexity and depth of the characters of Fabian and Ryan.
The first season of the series adapted the initial two books from Reid’s series, Game Changer and Heated Rivalry.
Crave confirmed that the upcoming season will continue the storyline of Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, the main characters from Reid’s book The Long Game, with Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie reprising their roles.
Additionally, the new season will incorporate the stories of Troy Barrett, a hockey player traded to Ilya’s team, and Harris Dover, a social media manager, from the fifth novel in the series, Role Model.
Crave revealed that Justice Smith will play Harris and Charlie Gillespie, known for his role in Julie and the Phantoms, will portray Troy.
Other new additions to the cast include Emily Hampshire from Schitt’s Creek and drag queen Priyanka.
